Social network-sites are for many a pleasant way to spend some time. But once in a while something special happens. 17 december 2009 was such a day. On MySpace I received a friends-request by a band named Stupre. Before accepting the invitation, I took a look at their page and was sucked right towards the music-player.
Immediately I asked them if I could receive a copy of their release for a review, because this was a band that the World should know about… Stupre everybody: STUPRE! (and don’t forget).
After some remixwork for e.g. Dolls of Pain, they have released a marvellous album: a real pearl.
Some of the tracks can be heard on their Myspace-page, but let that be no reason NOT to buy it: the beats are dark, the EBM-sound is present in a lot of songs and some even sound as tight as a skinny jeans.
It is not the 13-in-a-dozen electronic release in a row, but it sounds fresh. I do not want to use the word ‘new’, because somewhere someone will ever already have done something like this, but still: it’s not the convenient electro-album. Refreshing… With some known elements. The beats sound are often like in the late 80’s or early 90’s, when EBM was the norm, other tracks have a more d&b-rhythm.
A great album that came just in time for Christmas!
